Fix problems after connecting USB devices on Grid Pad 18

You may encounter the following problems on Grid Pad 18 devices after connecting or removing USB devices while Grid 3 is running:

– Continuous USB device connection and disconnection sounds
– The touch screen no longer works

This can be caused by the computer turning off the touch screen to save power.

Solution

– Close Grid 3
– Open the Start menu, type ‘Device Manager’ and press Enter
– Open the ‘Human Interface Devices’ section and select the ‘HID-compliant touch screen’ item
– Click the ‘View’ menu at the top of the window, and select ‘Devices by connection’
– Find the ‘USB Input Device’ items – there may be a few as circled below

– For each one, right-click it and select ‘Properties’, then the ‘Power Management’ section as shown
– Ensure that ‘Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ option is cleared for each USB Input Device
