Issue with McAfee conflicting with Grid 3

The following support issue is quite technical and you may need support from your re-seller  or our support team 

If you are experiencing an issue with Grid 3 hitting a snag straight after opening (Grid 3 red snag window) it could be due to conflicts with McAfee antivirus software.

The error:

  • If you try to update Grid 3, it will fail at the end saying access to the Licence Manager is denied.
  • In Grid 3 log error is – ERROR [2017-08-10 09:08:48] Unhandled fatal exception: System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. —> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {26C542DA-DA23-491E-AFD5-8B38C8438FED} failed due to the following error: 80070005 Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)).
  • In Licence Manager, you will just see a similar error

Fix:

  • Once you have checked it shows these symptoms and has McAfee installed
  • Restart Machine
  • Go to McAfee – turn off Real Time Protection
  • Run online installer for Grid 3 – https://thinksmartbox.com/downloads/grid_3/
  • It should complete and say it has finished with no errors

When you then check Licence Manager it should show normally and Grid 3 should start.
