Claire’s Environment Control Journey
Discover how Claire uses her Grid Pad to control devices around her home
Environment Control features in Grid give Claire greater independence, helping her control devices and accessories around her home using eye gaze.
In this short video, see how Claire uses her Grid Pad to turn on lights, control her TV, listen to Audible and control her Trifo robot vacuum cleaner!
Types of Environment Control
Claire uses Environment Control in many different ways…
Infrared (IR): IR remote controls use light to carry signals between a remote and device, such as a TV. By learning the signal from a device’s remote and then assigning those functions to cells on a grid set, a user can control device functions like power, volume and channel.
Radio: EasyWave and Z-Wave plug sockets use radio waves to turn on mains powered devices, so you can control devices like lamps and fans.
Voice: You can also use your Grid voice to activate virtual assistants like Alexa. This is a good option if you don’t have IR or Radio EC hardware.
