The October update of Grid will include a new and improved Widgit symbol library. Many symbols will remain the same, whilst other symbols have been revised to make them easier to understand, more consistent, and more representative of the world we live in today – particularly in terms of culture and technology.
More inclusive
Many symbols have been updated to improve diversity, for example, moving away from gender stereotypes, and providing more gender neutral and racially diverse symbols.
More relevant
Many symbols have been redrawn to better represent technology as it looks now.
More symbols
Hundreds of new symbols have been added to further encourage communication and independence.
We realise that some users may need some time to adjust to the new symbols. If you have any concerns, we recommend that you stay on the September version of Grid while you prepare for the update. Here are some useful resources to help you get ready:
When you update Grid in October, you will automatically see the new symbols in your Widgit grid sets.
