Getting started with Grid Online Workshop

This course is perfect for anyone who wants to start using Grid 3 (Windows), our flagship AAC software for people with disabilities. In this three-hour online workshop, you will learn how to get set up with Grid and the basics of using symbol and text AAC.

This training will cover: 

  • Introduction to Grid software and people who use it 
  • Grid Explorer and Settings
  • Symbol & Text AAC
  • Basics of editing
  • Tour of accessible apps
  • Next steps and ongoing support

The training will be delivered online in small groups and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.  Course dates are outlined below and tickets cost £20 / $30. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a certificate of attendance.

Simple AAC: Online Workshop

The Simple AAC online workshop is designed for anyone who wants to explore strategies to support AAC development in nine simple steps. The workshop is delivered online and lasts 3 hours.

This training will cover: 

  • Introduction
  • Putting yourself in an AAC user’s shoes
  • Show, Interesting, Months
  • Pause, Language, Explore
  • Add words, Always Available, Comment
  • Know the nine Simple AAC strategies
  • Be able to successfully model on AAC
  • Understand how to use the strategies in every day practice

By the end of the workshop attendees will be confident using AAC.

Eye Gaze, Switch, Pointer and Touch in Grid Online Workshop

In this workshop, you will explore how four main methods of alternative access (eye gaze, pointer, switch and touch) work in Grid 3 (Windows) – our flagship AAC software for people with disabilities. This course is ideal for people who want to learn more about setting up these access methods for different needs and requirements, and using them with different grid sets.

The workshop is delivered online and lasts 3 hours. Further dates will be released throughout the year.

This training will cover: 

  • How to set up and use the four alternative access methods in Grid AAC software for different needs
  • Interacting with different grid sets, from symbol and text vocabularies to accessible apps and simple environment control
  • Motivating AAC users adjust to their access methods with types of content
  • Any questions you may have about access methods or Grid

By the end of the workshop attendees will be confident making adaptations to grid sets for different access methods. At the end of the workshop, you will receive a certificate of attendance.
