We were sent a great user story from 19 year old Bradley who is obviously having great success with eye gaze access. It is really interesting to hear that he still uses a switch for controlling his computer. We often tell people that alternative access devices are not mutually exclusive!
Here is Bradley’s story in his words:
Hello, my name is Bradley. I’m 19 years old and I’m good at eye gaze.
I haven’t used eye gaze all the time – just since September 2013. I was using a device that was controlled by a switch on my head rest and also EZ Keys, a piece of software which I still use to access the computer with a switch. It’s good to have several options!
I go to St Martin’s Centre (adults 19-25 with complex needs), based at St Rose’s in Stroud, Gloucestershire. I’m doing the Preparation for Adulthood Course which includes going out in the community (going shopping and bowling).
I’m also doing a course in horticulture at Thomas Keble school (a local mainstream secondary school). I love using my Tobii to chat with my friends, and control my TV, take pictures, recording, going on the Internet.
My Tobii i-Series really has changed my way of communicating and doing things for myself!
