Working towards a more sustainable product range
Smartbox is on a journey to a greener, more sustainable future. We are passionate about working in a way that maximises positive impact on society, reduces the impact of our operations on the environment, and meets the needs of our customers. Learn more about how we have been making our latest products and packaging more sustainable. We have made some updates to our latest packaging designs. Moving to eco friendly materials Uncoated print Online documentation Through rigorous testing and innovation, we aim to make our products last longer, with more sustainable components, longer battery life, and reduced charging times. We are focused on improving the durability of our products, decreasing the frequency of repairs, in turn reducing waste. We are also committed to reducing the need for accessories, with more built-in features and greater accessibility. We recently published a new page on the Smartbox Hub to help you understand the carbon footprint of your device. Explore a detailed breakdown of the materials used in your device and their carbon dioxide equivalent (KgCO2e) measure. This information is currently available for Grid Pad 13, Grid Pad 15 and the latest generation Talk Pad. Improving our cardboard – we are working to improve the type of cardboard we use to ensure it’s made from recycled sources and uses environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. Explore more about what we are doing at Smartbox to work towards a more sustainable future. This includes progress towards becoming B-Corp certified and achieving level 1 of the NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment. Greener product packaging
By swapping the foam support layers in our packaging for a pulp moulded tray, we have reduced the carbon emissions of the Grid Pad 13 packaging by 52% (compared with Grid Pad 12).
We have reduced the amount of print used on our boxes, and swapped the full gloss print finish for an uncoated finish. This improves the recyclability of your box and reduces the amount of ink used.
Where possible, supporting documentation for your device is provided in a digital format on the Smartbox Hub. We do still provide some printed documentation as required by MDR (medical device regulation).

What’s next?
100% recyclable packaging – we are also working to find materials to replace the small amount of plastic used in our packaging to make it 100% curb side recyclable.
Eco friendly packing materials – we are looking at ways to eliminate plastic from all the materials used when we pack your order, while still ensuring it arrives with you safely. A more sustainable Smartbox
