Coronavirus Super Core resources

Providing AAC users with access to the language they need to talk about lots of different things is really important. Given the recent outbreak of Coronavirus, here are some electronic and printable Super Core grids to support communication around the issue.

The Coronavirus topic grids have been created using the Super Core 30 and Super Core 50 topic grid templates. They are built using the same styling and wherever possible language is located consistently. There is also space to personalise these grids and more words.

These grids can be added into existing vocabularies or used as stand-alone resources. You can download them from Online Grids by searching for Super Core 30 Coronavirus or Super Core 50 Coronavirus.

You can add the Coronavirus grid into your Super Core grid set. Here’s a quick video to show you how:

(You’ll need to add the Coronavirus grid to your Grid Explorer before you add it into Super Core. Make sure you remember to add a jump cell to your topic page so you can access the vocabulary!)We’ve also created a Super Core learning grid with 20 cells, with some words that may be useful for talking about Coronavirus. We’ve used the same core language as those used in the rest of the Super Core learning grids to be consistent. You can download this resource from Online Grids by searching for Super Core Learning Coronavirus.

If you want to make some tweaks to this learning grid, here’s a webinar that shows you how to create your own learning grid. You’ll find some useful tips for editing that you can put into practice straight away.

Printable resources

Here are some low tech, print-friendly versions of our Super Core Coronavirus resources to make sure that you have access to symbol communication on the topic at all times. Many people laminate them to create communication boards that can be wiped clean.

Based on the existing Super Core 50 Conronavirus low techs, these boards include core vocabulary words and useful language for talking about Coronavirus. Choose from the following symbol libraries:

The Super Core Coronavirus learning grid is also available in the following symbol libraries:

These low tech boards are a really useful tool for modelling or ‘showing’ language to help introduce unfamiliar vocabulary and how to use AAC. For more support and ideas, take a look at our Simple AAC Framework below.
